Menu Plan Monday 11/20/17: Trader Joe’s

Trader Joe's

Welcome to Thanksgiving week Menu Plan Monday! This has been a really busy week here, with my oldest daughter arriving home from college. I love having all the girls home at the same time! We went to a niece’s birthday party Saturday and did some Christmas shopping on the way home. Fun! We also stopped at Trader Joe’s on the north side of Indy. I would love to have a Trader Joe’s in my town, although honestly if I did, I probably wouldn’t find it as exciting.

This week, for something different (and because I’m really busy today and don’t have the week’s menu plan together yet), I thought it would be fun to look at the goodies we found at TJ’s this time —

Crispy Crunchy Chocolate Chip Cookies

My sister recommended these, and one of the girls said we needed some. She hopes to make “cookie sandwiches” by putting icing between two. Another girl mentioned she wished these were soft instead of crunchy. I agree, but you can’t have everything.

Mini Dark Chocolate Mint Stars

These are little star-shaped cookies “enrobed” in dark chocolate. Pretty tasty. Cute, too.

Peach Salsa and Island Salsa

I’m always looking for things like this. Last visit, I bought something similar that was a chutney. I used it with fish and it was really tasty. These look good too — either with fish or chicken or even to dip chips in.

Trader Joe’s Tandoori Naan

We love naan bread! Recently I’ve been buying it up a lot at Meijer when they have it for $1 (I keep them in the freezer). But I’ll give Trader Joe’s a try. They look good. And I’ll use them soon, because I’ve learned that naan bread tends to mold quickly if you don’t.

Harvest Grains Blend

This is a really tasty blend of Israeli style couscous, orzo, baby garbanzo beans, and red quinoa. You can prepare it in about 10 minutes and it’s great as a side dish with pretty much anything. Great in soups too.

Veggie Sticks Potato Snacks

One of the girls has loved these for years!

Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups

I would prefer these in milk chocolate (and they did carry those), but these are pretty good too.

S’mashing S’mores

This was a new find, and they taste divine — basically graham crackers and marshmallows coated in chocolate. YUM!

Do you have a favorite thing to buy at Trader Joe’s?

Wishing you all a wonderful Thanksgiving! What are your plans? I’ll meet you all back here again next Monday, and then it’s on to Christmas 😉

  1. So glad you all joined the weekend party! You and your family are such “party animals!” The Trader Joe stop yielded some good eats, I can tell. Happy Thanksgiving!

  2. I have never been in a Trader Joe store. I’ve never lived near one and just haven’t taken the time to stop when I pass one. After reading your blog today, I must go to one!! Your purchase sound delicious. Just looking at your picture makes my mouth water! I send you and your family my best wishes for a Happy Thanksgiving.

  3. My son and d-i-l love it, but I have never been. It’s too far away for regular shopping, and I keep thinking I’ll drop in when I am in the area, but there never seems to be enough time when I am – or I just want to get home when I get my stuff done.

We’ll have Thanksgiving here. My oldest son won’t be here but everyone else will.

  4. That peach salsa sounds really yummy to me! Everything else sounds good, too! I have only been to a Trader Joe’s once or twice with Joe, because he and his sons had a big thing for Trader Joe’s. Can’t remember now what I bought there, but I know that I did buy a couple of things,,,maybe some cheese and exotic crackers and probably a spice or two. Glad that you and the girls got to visit there once again!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL OF YOU!

  5. This makes me want to stop at Trader Joe’s the next time we visit our grandkids! Speaking of sandwich cookies, I like to put peanut butter in between two of my soft homemade oatmeal cookies. And if you could call a cookie, healthful, this might be close. Happy Thanksgiving to your family!!

  6. Thanksgiving Blessings! The recipes you shared seem great. Hopefully, I will be able to plan a menu.

Thanks for taking the time to comment. I enjoy hearing your thoughts.
