GrubMarket: Wholesome Food Review

GrubMarket produce review

Many thanks to Propeller Consulting, LLC for providing this prize for the giveaway. Choice of winners and opinions are 100% my own and NOT influenced by monetary compensation. I did receive a sample of the product in exchange for this review and post.

Healthy food. We all would like to eat more of it. We all know we should eat more of it. But it’s not that easy.

Face it: it’s the easiest thing in the world to go through the McDonald’s drive-through, and for just a few dollars be handed a meal that smells and tastes great. It only takes a few minutes! Contrast that with healthy eating. You need to buy the produce, which is often pricey. Then, you have to go home and prepare it. It’s no wonder that for many of us, it just becomes too much effort.

GrubMarket is a company that would like to change this. They provide accessibility to healthy food by offering —
  • Unbeatable prices:  Many food delivery services and premium grocers cater to high-income earners, but GrubMarket is committed to keeping their prices consistently lower than comparable grocers.
  • Convenience:  GrubMarket helps provide people in food deserts (areas without farmers’ markets and fresh grocery stores) with access to high-quality, freshly-harvested items that they would typically find at a farmers’ market or Whole Foods store.  GrubMarket’s prices are up to 50% off what you’d typically find at Whole Foods and other grocers, and delivery across the U.S. for orders above $59 is FREE.
  • Food Discovery:  GrubMarket works with small farms and vendors to sell their items directly to customers.  Many of these food producers have challenges getting shelf space at grocery stores, or may not want to pay the upfront costs of hosting farmers’ market tables.  GrubMarket gives these smaller food producers access to thousands of customers through their online marketplace.

GrubMarket fruit

It was quite a treat to have a box arrive at my front door, and find this inside — luscious fruit after luscious fruit! This is the regular size California Fruit Bounty box.

And here’s the entire contents of the box. I have to say, it was so convenient and so NICE to have fresh fruit come to my house without my selecting it, testing it for ripeness, etc. Each piece arrived ripe and in great condition. We enjoyed it throughout the week (see the top collage for photos of ways we enjoyed it).

As a mom of a college student, one GrubMarket service I love is their College Care GrubBox. How awesome that there is a service to deliver healthy treats to college kids!

This box of fruit was such a treat for our family, and I’m grateful that they’re providing one for one of you readers as well.

If you don’t win (or if you don’t want to wait, because I understand that this luscious fruit is tempting!), you can receive 20% off your first order by using code GRUB20 and free shipping on orders over $59.

  1. It does look delicious. I am going online to check them out. Last year I was given a Fruit of the Month from Harry & David. It’s so nice to have a box of fruit arrive once a month. Thanks for telling us about this company and a chance to win!

  2. I would love to receive these fresh fruits. Having had access to so many fresh, tropical fruits while in Africa, I miss them now.

  3. I love cantaloupe! My biggest challenge to eating healthy is not enjoying cooking/meal prep. So then we eat out or eat a frozen thing.

  4. Having fresh fruit brought to your front door would be a real treat! Enjoy every morsel!

  5. I love all kinds of fruit. One of the barriers in my small town is having good, fresh fruit available. Grub Market sounds amazing.

  6. My favorite fruit is bing cherries and I recently tried passion fruit but it’s hard to find. My biggest obstacle to eating healthy is my love of carbs.

  7. I love all fruits, but especially grapes. I find that not having a farmer’s market available in the winter really affects how much fruit I eat.

  8. Oh man. It’s hard to pick a favorite fruit, I’m a fruit fanatic! I’m a huge fan of cantaloupe, blueberries, apples, kiwis, and mandarins. 🙂 My biggest obstacle is not eating too much fructose. I’m on AIP Paleo and I’m supposed to eat between 10-15 grams a day… that’s one SMALL apple, so it’s a struggle. (Although, it’s like 5 cups of berries.. so I need to cool it on the apples.)

  9. since i have 2 toddlers eating healthy also benefits them so its very important that i eat fruit and healthy so my kids follow my lead.

  10. I love just about any kind of fruit – cherries and blueberries are my favorites.

  11. My favorite fruit is strawberries I could eat them all the time. My biggest obstacle to eating healthy is going to a grocery store ever 4 days, If I buy a bunch of fruit and veggies itll go bad before i get to eat them all so I have to go every 3-4 days to keep fresh ingredients in the house. I really wish I lived next door to Sprouts because then I would be set 🙂

  12. I love fruit. One of my favorites is fresh, local strawberries. Thanks

  13. Watermelon is my favorite fruit. The biggest obstacle is where I live. Fruit is expensive and is often tasteless or bad.

  14. My favorite fruit is blueberries but there are almost no fruits that I don’t really like. The biggest obstacle to eating health for me is the cost and also the time involved.

  15. We love strawberries and pineapple finding organic fruits that we can afford is difficult.

  16. mandarin oranges are my favorite fruit! or strawberries with whipped cream which kinda voids out the healthy fruit aspect

  17. I really love fruit! When I was little, my mom used to fill my Christmas stocking with exotic fruits instead of candy and toys. I really like rambutans and pomelos!

  18. I just want to say thank you for introducing me to GrubMarket. I had no idea they existed until I read your blog post. My favorite fruit is kiwi and my biggest obstacle in eating healthy is actually finding the food. My little town is full of fast food restaurants and junk supermarkets. We are very fortunate to have a wonderful farmer’s market during summer months, but winter is tricky. I will definitely be ordering from GrubMarket in the very near future!

  19. I like all kinds of fruit, strawberries, fresh pineapple. We live out in the country, so mostly just have fresh produce.

  20. I love pineapple! The biggest obstacle to eating healthy for me is the high cost of healthier foods!

  21. I like bananas. And blueberries. And peaches in season.
