It’s Menu Plan Monday again! What is new in your part of the world? We had a snow day Friday, which the kids enjoyed, although it will result in an additional day at the end of the school year. It was one of those days where there was ice and bad conditions until about 10 a.m., and then everything was fine. So it was pretty for a few hours, but now we’re back to dead grass and dreariness. At least March begins this week. Woo hoo!
So I spent Saturday accompanying students at ISSMA state solo/ensemble contest and listening to these lovely ladies perform. They brought home a silver. You’d always like to get gold, but hey — sometimes you get the room with the persnickety judge. What can I say …
Most trips to the capital city also wind up with a stop at Trader Joe’s. Here’s the weekend’s treats. I don’t have anything specific I buy there, but it’s fun to just look around and grab a thing or two. I can always find something neat.
Also, we got to visit these cute baby chicks at my sister’s. She is a teacher and she hatched them this week in her classroom. So sweet!
So, on to the menu:
Monday: Fiesta Chili Bake — I have made this for years and we like it — got the recipe from a Del Monte tomato label
Tuesday: Hot chicken salad — another long-time favorite
Wednesday: make your own pizza — I make the crust; everyone makes a personal pizza with their own topping choices
Thursday: Cheese-filled breadsticks — another family favorite. I guess this is family favorites week!
Friday: Poppyseed chicken — in the freezer from an earlier time when I made two. Gotta love freezer cooking

We just got a Trader Joe’s across town from us – I’ve only been there once, though. What a neat place, huh?
Those baby chicks are adorable. They bring back many memories from our time on the farm. It was always such fun when we got an order of new baby chicks. The fun wore off quickly enough, however!
I love Trader Joes. My latest find there was canned coconut cream…whip it for whipped cream…and then freeze it for ice cream YUM
I have never been to Trader Joes, but I sure want to go. . . I am happy for you getting to have a fun weekend. Your wonderful husband FIXED my poor computer. God bless Mike!
