My image of Emmy Rossum will always be this: her in the role of Christine from the Phantom of the Opera film. I was amazed at her voice, especially considering she was just a teen at the time of the filming.
Sentimental Journey by Emmy Rossum
Now, she’s singing again. Sentimental Journey by Emmy Rossum releases on January 29. It features Emmy singing an American Songbook consisting of songs popularized by some of the most beloved artists of the last century.
The album features 12 songs, one chosen for each month — plus a bonus track. Some of my favorites were “I’ll Be With You in Apple Blossom Time,” “These Foolish Things (Remind Me of You),” and “Summer Wind” — especially the piano part on that one.
I have to admit that I enjoyed Emmy’s voice more in Phantom of the Opera than on this album. However, she does have a good voice, and I like the idea of reviving old standards. I’m just old-fashioned that way. I encourage you to check out the album. It’s a lovely return to a simpler time.
