Sentimental Journey by Emmy Rossum

Emmy Rossum Phantom of the OperaMy image of Emmy Rossum will always be this: her in the role of Christine from the Phantom of the Opera film. I was amazed at her voice, especially considering she was just a teen at the time of the filming.

Now, she’s singing again. Sentimental Journey by Emmy Rossum releases on January 29. It features Emmy singing an American Songbook consisting of songs popularized by some of the most beloved artists of the last century.

Emmy Rossum Sentimental JourneyThe album features 12 songs, one chosen for each month — plus a bonus track. Some of my favorites were “I’ll Be With You in Apple Blossom Time,” “These Foolish Things (Remind Me of You),” and “Summer Wind” — especially the piano part on that one.

I have to admit that I enjoyed Emmy’s voice more in Phantom of the Opera than on this album. However, she does have a good voice, and I like the idea of reviving old standards. I’m just old-fashioned that way. I encourage you to check out the album. It’s a lovely return to a simpler time.

  1. I love the old song, “Sentimental Journey.” Thanks for bringing it back to my mind this morning. I’ll probably have it on my head all day – maybe longer. I hope it will put “my mind at ease.”

  2. I’m sure that Joe and I would enjoy hearing this album! Both of us are fond of the old standards and many beautiful love songs from the last century.

  3. Sounds lovely! I love Emmy Rossum in Phantom of the Opera (she’s also good in “The Day After Tomorrow,” but she doesn’t sing in that). If you like the old torch songs, Linda Ronstadt has an amazing album and a stunningly good voice – the album is called “For Sentimental Reasons.”

Thanks for taking the time to comment. I enjoy hearing from you.
