Sometimes it can seem hard to find January beauty. But if you just look around a little, you’re sure to find some. A few months ago, I went to a local presentation at the library about winter Indiana birds. I took notes, filled up my feeder, and began watching.
Mostly, I got sparrows. That’s okay. They need to eat too.
Then, I was excited to identify what I think is a dark-eyed junco.
And while I was trying to get a photo, who flew up but a beautiful cardinal!
What January beauty have you seen this month?

I keep sunflower seeds on hand for Mr. and Mrs. Cardinal.
One of my favorite things to see in January is one of my favorite Christmas presents – my gray warm wooly mittens! They are SO THICK! With my Raynaud’s, I am able to walk outside in colder weather now, thanks to the mittens. Did you know mittens keep fingers much warmer than gloves ever will? It’s true!
