One Year Uncommon Life Daily Challenge by Tony Dungy

Congrats to winner, #42 Kelly
one year uncommon life challenge "Tony Dungy"I don’t know much about sports, and that’s an understatement. But what I know of Tony Dungy, former coach of my home-state Colts football team, is all good.

Dungy has written a devotional book, “The One Year Uncommon Life Daily Challenge.” I think that this would be a great book for any sports fan, and that reading a page each day would be an excellent 2012 New Year’s resolution.

Each day’s reading presents a brief devotional on one of 7 topics: core, family, friends, potential, mission, influence, and faith.  The daily devotional ends with a challenge — a way of putting the day’s lesson into practice.

This isn’t the type of devotional book I’d normally pick up — I’m more of a “Streams in the Desert” or “My Utmost for His Highest” girl — but I recognize that not everyone is. I see this being a great book for someone looking for light readings, maybe someone (guys in particular) who doesn’t normally read devotionals or even go to church. Many of the readings have a sports focus, which I think would appeal to men.

I gave a copy of this book to my dad for Christmas. Do you know someone who would appreciate a daily Biblical challenge from a godly man? If so, you’re in luck. Tyndale has provided me with a certificate good for a free copy of the book. You can redeem the coupon at any local Christian bookstore (if none is available, you can mail the certificate to Tyndale and they’ll send you the book).

Enter by leaving a comment on this post. For an extra entry, “like” my Facebook page. Enter by January 8 and I’ll choose a winner the 9th so you can get the book by just a couple of months into the year.

Here’s wishing each of you an uncommonly good year!

Thanks to Tyndale for the opportunity to review this book.

  1. I have admired Tony Dungy for years. I was sorry when he left the Colts.

  2. Add me for sure. I played FF for two years running with my son. It is a lot of fun. Makes football so different when you have a dog in the hunt. Plus this man’s whole persona makes him someone I’d love to know. (But the way, the first year i came in second in the league and this year I finsihed in 8th place. I’ll get’m next year. Ladies you should try FF. Join an all girl league or ask your FF playing husband to show you how.
