Chicago, Chicago

Oh what fun it was to spend a day in the Windy City with a group of fifth graders …

Chicago Navy Pier ShakespeareIf you ever have the chance to see a production at the Chicago Shakespeare Theater on Navy Pier, go. We saw A Comedy of Errors, and they kept the 5th graders– and parents — totally engaged for 75 minutes.

Chicago Navy PierNothing like yummy, overpriced Chicago pizza for lunch …

Chicago Navy Pier Ferris WheelThe sky was blue, the views from the Pier were incredible – outside …

Chicago Navy Pier… and inside as well.

Chicago Art Institute

Mary Cassat, On the Balcony

Heading over to the Art Institute and hearing the kids talk about “their paintings” was awesome as well. Each child was assigned a famous painting beforehand, which they researched and then reported on while at the museum.

I hope your Saturday was half as nice!

Do you have any favorite memories of the Windy City? I’d love to hear them!

  1. So nice to hear of your wonderful day in Chicago! Interestingly, yesterday in the Tribune Dan Davis, Editor, mentioned “I first learned of Geisel’s editorial cartooning days at an exhibit about him at the children’s museum at Navy Pier in Chicago several years ago.”

  2. i’m going to chicago in the summer and looking for stuff to do and see. i’ll keep this theater in mind!

Thanks for taking the time to comment. I enjoy hearing your thoughts.
