It’s winter. It’s snowy. It’s dreary. It’s January.
I would like to be spending time in a warm, sunny location, but realistically that’s not going to happen.
So, what works for me is to take vicarious winter vacations by filling the house with little things that can help me take mental vacations throughout the day.
I made these cupcakes the other night and was ready to throw away the container, when I thought why? So I kept it, and each time I see it I can imagine myself strolling into a Sprinkle’s Bakery. The cupcake I’m imagining eating is even calorie-free.
Get the idea? Cheer up these long winter days with little things that make you happy. It may not be Disney, but you can go somewhere today briefly – for free! Wasn’t it Plato who said that the idea of things was actually more real than their reality? Hmmm … he may have been on to something. Plan a few vicarious winter vacations to treat yourself in the next few weeks.
