The Power of Plants

Today, I share with you something I love – my plant area and plant shelf:

plant shelfThe lighting isn’t great in the photo, but it’s for a good reason.  The plant area is by the big south window in the kitchen, where light streams in.  It is a great, cheery place to be – for people AND for plants.  I love seeing the green plants, especially in the winter.

Some of the plants have stories.  Two of my girls’ first grade teachers gave them ‘baby plants’ at the end of the school year.  They are both thriving.  Other plants are ones the girls were given in a plant give-away each spring at school.

There is a huge aloe plant (which keeps having babies) my mother in law gave me a start of.  Several geraniums are spending the winter until they can bloom outside.

  1. What a wonderful, big, cheerful window! When our home was built in 1993, I had large floor length windows installed on nearly every side of the house. I’m like a plant and have to have loads of sunshine. :o) ♥ ∞

  2. Pretty! I love houseplants! I have a couple that need repotted this spring. That’s the perfect, sunny spot for yours!

  3. I’m envious of your house plant gift because they come into my house, take one look at me and commit suicide! LOL!

  4. I think we are alike in this – the bigger and more unadorned the window the better – and I believe that lots of plants make you happier and healthier! 🙂

I have a plant area with skylights, but my plants don’t have stories behind them…… it’s cool that yours do.

Thanks for being part of TIMHT!
