The Littlest Christmas Tree

This week for Things in My House Thursday, I am sharing with you my little Christmas Tree:

littlest Christmas tree pineconeI made it in first grade, and it’s one of my oldest hand-made things.  It’s made of a pinecone set into an aerosol lid filled with plaster.  The gold macaroni adorning the base are falling off, and the paper star at the top is showing its age, but each year the little tree sits in the hutch next to the little wooden church, and I remember sitting in Miss Wilson’s class, younger than all my girls are now.

Miss Wilson is now gone, but the littlest Christmas tree still comes out each season. It represents memories that make Christmas so special.

  1. Hi, there, Susan! I am pleased I found you too (through you finding me!) Your daughers are lovely. I also have two daughers both grown and married and two delightful granddaughters. I also like your little macaroni tree! Christmas is just the time to bring out all our ‘old’ irreplaceable treasures. As for hymns and the ‘new style’ worship songs – a thorny issue. I just love hymns and I often take out my old red Redemption hymnal and croak away to the Lord in my quiet time. But my church is also into the pounding repetitive worship songs. I do believe God has placed me in my church so I just have to take it as it comes. Bless you! Eleanor

  2. Hi there! Thanks so much for commenting on my blog! It’s always great to connect with other people in blogland and I just had to come over and pay you a visit! Your husband’s aspergers ….interesting…you probably feel like you now have a reason for all the little quirks! 🙂 My boys are fairly low functioning and nonverbal. It’s quite a challenge! I’m glad we connected…your blog is great…and your girls are gorgeous! I’ll be back again…I’m putting you on my blogroll so I don’t loose you! ~~Betsy

  3. This is so adorable, and what great memories; I can’t believe you could hang on to it so long and keep it in such good shape.

I remember making things in VBS out of gold macaroni – I loved the crafts and thought they were incredibly special.

I think we need to ‘bring back’ more spray-painted pasta!!!

  4. Geez I had forgotten about the little Xmas tree. Kinda extra special in light of the recent passing of “Miss Wilson”.

Thanks for taking the time to comment. I enjoy hearing your thoughts.
