Menu Plan Monday: Peppermint Bark

It’s the time of the year for making Christmas candy, and since my girls are 7, 9, and 11, they’re old enough to want to help.  However, they’re young enough that I don’t want to get into anything too complex with them.

This peppermint bark is the answer!  It’s basically impossible to screw up, and they love it.  An added bonus is that I’m not tempted by it, because I don’t like white chocolate (“white” and “chocolate” are two terms that just do not go together, in my book).

2 lb. white chocolate

12 candy canes

1/2 teaspoon peppermint flavoring

Line baking sheet with waxed paper (or, if you want to be frugal and green, this).

Melt chocolate in microwave.

Crush candy canes in a plastic bag with a rolling pin.

Stir peppermint flavoring and candy into melted chocolate.

Remove from heat; pour onto lined sheet.

Refrigerate until firm; break into pieces.

Refrigerate until ready to serve.

  1. Yum! What a fun, festive idea for a Christmas gift! Looks delicious, too.

Thanks for stopping by my blog and for the kind words! I look forward to reading more of your blog! 🙂

  2. I am going to definitely try and make this peppermint bark. It looks really good. I know my sons would like it.

  3. This is along the goodies line. I am picking up from many friends that most people use butter when baking cookies. I, for years, have used canola oil for same. It does NOT make good cookies. I’m beginning to think on the rare occasions I make cookies I too should use butter.

  4. I’ve saved the recipe and plan on giving it a try. It sounds so easy and it’s gluten free! Linda

  5. I thought peppermint bark was hard to make…since you say it is “impossible to screw up” maybe I will try it this year! I love it! Thanks for the recipe!

  6. mmm! This sounds so yummy! Perfect for Holiday munching. 🙂 I’ll have to give it a try. Thanks so much for coming to check out my MPM. I am so new to this, and I really appreciated your comment! 🙂
